Crepes! Ever popular in France, delicate and delicious thin tender pancakes are once again basking in the international culinary spotlight. There is something undeniably romantic about a crepe. Crepes can be served as an appetizer, entrée or a desert. Crepes are delicious and everyone loves them, but people often are intimidated and wonder how to make crepes at home.
Here is a simple, basic but delicious crepe batter recipe which can be made in minutes. It’s our family favorite. I have to do it each and every week at least once. It's made from ingredients that everyone has on hand. Follow this Basic Crepes Recipe to enjoy this delicious desert at your own convenience.
Ingredient:
2 cups (500 ml) flour
1 pop gingerale
7 dl milk
1 teaspoon sugar(optional because the pop already has sugar in it)
4 eggs
6 spoons of sunflover oil
½ teaspoon sea salt
Preparation:
1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, salt and the eggs. Gradually add in the milk and gingerale, stirring to combine. Add the oil; beat until smooth.
2. Heat a lightly oiled frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the frying pan, using approximately 1/4 cup for each crepe. Tilt the pan with a circular motion so that the batter coats the surface evenly.
3.Cook the crepe for about 2 minutes, until the bottom is light brown. Loosen with a spatula, turn and cook the other side. Serve hot.
Note:
Crepes can be wrapped around just about anything to turn it into an elegant meal, or just folded and topped with something yummy. You can fill the crepe with whatever you wish. My kids love the nutella filling the most. When it’s warm is great with maple syrup too. There is no limit what you can do with it! Use your taste and imagination.
