Basic Crepes Recipe – How to Make Crepes

>> Saturday, December 19, 2009

Crepes! Ever popular in France, delicate and delicious thin tender pancakes are once again basking in the international culinary spotlight. There is something undeniably romantic about a crepe. Crepes can be served as an appetizer, entrée or a desert. Crepes are delicious and everyone loves them, but people often are intimidated and wonder how to make crepes at home.

Here is a simple, basic but delicious crepe batter recipe which can be made in minutes. It’s our family favorite. I have to do it each and every week at least once. It's made from ingredients that everyone has on hand. Follow this Basic Crepes Recipe to enjoy this delicious desert at your own convenience.

Ingredient:

2 cups (500 ml) flour
1 pop gingerale
7 dl milk
1 teaspoon sugar(optional because the pop already has sugar in it)
4 eggs
6 spoons of sunflover oil
½ teaspoon sea salt

Preparation:

1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, salt and the eggs. Gradually add in the milk and gingerale, stirring to combine. Add the oil; beat until smooth.

2. Heat a lightly oiled frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the frying pan, using approximately 1/4 cup for each crepe. Tilt the pan with a circular motion so that the batter coats the surface evenly.

3.Cook the crepe for about 2 minutes, until the bottom is light brown. Loosen with a spatula, turn and cook the other side. Serve hot.

Note:
Crepes can be wrapped around just about anything to turn it into an elegant meal, or just folded and topped with something yummy. You can fill the crepe with whatever you wish. My kids love the nutella filling the most. When it’s warm is great with maple syrup too. There is no limit what you can do with it! Use your taste and imagination.

Nutella Cream Filled Crepes

>> Thursday, December 10, 2009

Crepes can have many different fillings or made different ways. This delicious thin pancake can be wrapped around just about anything to turn it into an elegant meal, or just folded and topped with something yummy. Try the nutella filling if you are a chocolate or nutella fan. My boys love nutella filled crepes. Use warm crepes right from the pan, fill then and serve.

Making crepes at home is as easy as cooking pancakes. You don't need a special gourmet crepe pan, either; a small nonstick pan will work just fine.
Here is my simple step-by-step Basic Crepe Recipe.

Cherry-Vanilla Crackers Cake

>> Monday, October 19, 2009

If you are a cherry lover then this recipe is super easy, no baking knowledge requested and needs basic ingredients! Everyone who likes cherry flavor has fallen in love with it!

Kids might not like it as much they like the Chocolate-Vanilla Crackers Cake, but it could be only my boys. When I don’t have time to actually bake something this is my best alternative. I make this Crackers Cake in two flavors: Chocolate-Vanilla and Cherry-Vanilla flavor. Now I always say pick your taste because that will define which will be your favorite one.

Ingredients:

One box of Premium Plus Unsalted Crackers
2 box French Vanilla Pudding - instant
2 cans of Cherry fillings
1 liter milk
1 liter of Whipping Cream
4 tablespoon of powder sugar

Preparation:

Prepare the pudding by following the directions on the packaging. Let it stand until you beat the whipping cream. Mix the 4 tablespoons of powder sugar into the whipping cream. Mix well. Beat with an electric mixer on high speed until well down. Mix the whipping cream into the Vanilla Pudding. Stir well. Use a glass dish for better results.

Step 1: Spread a layer of crackers on the bottom of the dish. Spread the vanilla mix over the crackers.
Step 2: Spread another layer of cracker. Spread the vanilla mix over the crackers and then spread one can of cherry filling
Step 3: Repeat Step1
Step 4: Repeat Step 2

When finished place it in the fridge to chill for at least 3-4 hours. The crackers have to soften to really enjoy this cake. I usually leave it for overnight. Enjoy!
